Something is happening with fashion and hip hop that makes a stylist happy! Gone are the days of baggy white hanes tees and jeans that could double as my bedsheets and out comes new-comer Kid Cudi who is changing the way people look at the hip hop culture. It's a mixture of skate sneakers or converse and plaid flannels and leather that seems so effortless yet stylish! The nerdy glasses and slouchy cap are perfect, and it doesn't hurt that he's adorable! Cudder, you have me on the moon with your style strategy!

I've seen way to many people do Yellow shoes the wrong way and I'm here to say : STOP MATCHING GIRLS!!! Check out resident bad girl Olivia Palermo from The City doing it up right at Fashion week. When you have one loud accessory the more classic and toned-down the rest of the ensemble, the more chic the outcome. Olivia pulls of a perfectly effortless look and makes me want to continue to sing her praises! Bad girls are more fun anyway!

Thought you would never see the day? That's right a classic pant made for me! For starters, i dare pair the ever so fabulous Dr. Martens loosely laced to give the pants a meaning to grunge with a studded belt ( remember my twitter post?) it's a must have piece. "Topped off" with an over-sized chambray button down rolled up for texture and a black and grey slashed tee. Loving it? oh but you will. =P

The traditional fedora hat can be easily understood as a statement. I like to capture the three C's: Clean, Casual and Chic. I tip my hat for the fun casual look YOU KNOW! Keeps your outfit on the interesting side... =] Floppy fedora's next!!

These 3 caught my eye with the sneakers they were rocking. They put a whole different twist on things, with one of them wearing a sweatpant harem pant with high tops and a leather and the other two blending right in with her. From the edgy hair "dos" to the sneakers they were successful with fitting in with these new yorkers. Sneakers don't always have to be casual they could be edgy too...By the way I still have my converse from high school that I still pull out once in a while, gotta love them :)

I found these two guys at the corner of Broadway and Canal being the usual tourists, taking pictures of everything. As soon as I saw them I thought to myself… sailors in the city?? Perfect timing for visiting NYC, they were in trend and didn’t even know it. Can you say nautical with the stripes and red, white, and blue suits, even if it is their everyday uniform...

Most people would say it is impossible to do two flowy silhouettes together, but its all about proportions. Notice the harem pant is ankle length which lets you know theres leg underneath :) and the top is biased and longer on the sides, to create some interest. It is wise to stay within the same color palette as well, you don't want to do too many things at once. Oh! And if you are short like me, heels is a must!!
